本會顧問分享印度疫情
Dear Dr. Chang,
Yes. You are right. The condition back in India is not at all under control. The government though is concerned about the economy which is in a doldrum and absolute shamble, the priority right now is to save the life of as many as possible and check the spread of the virus. You know how big is India and how difficult it is to keep people confined to their homes during the nationwide lockdown in a country with 1.38 billion people. The biggest problems are faced by migrant laborers who have moved from one part of India to another in search of jobs and got stuck there. Very recently, the government has arranged for their transportation by trains and buses back to their homes. But, once they are back to their home province, then again there is a fear that they may have carried the virus with them and that is how it may get spread. The projected growth rate of our GDP for this financial year is less than 2%. Some experts are predicting it to be negative. Industrial production has touch all time low for the month of April. So far there is no news of lay off or pay cut. But, most companies are going for a salary freeze.
Hope you all are safe and doing well. Stay safe.
In Solidarity.
